Keep It Clean

Unfortunately, like any other urban environment, there is the issue of litter.

Although bins are readily available, people often toss their rubbish aside with no thought as to how this will affect the Swan River environment. The wind can picks up litter and sweep it into the river's banks or into the river itself. And far worse than this, people sometimes use the river as a dumping ground for their garbage, ranging from shopping trolleys to vandalized signs, and an enormous amount of plastic bags.

The flora and fauna of the Burswood foreshore can be damaged hugely by rubbish; dolphins are dying from pollution of the water, rubbish is buried under the soil, marine and other wildlife (particularly pelicans) are also affected - not to mention the damage to the aesthetic side of the river scenery.
